The AUC sets regulated utility rates to ensure customers receive safe and reliable service at just and reasonable rates.

The Government of Alberta has re-appointed the Chair of the AUC, Ms. Carolyn Dahl Rees, for a five-year term.
Two new acting Commission Members, Ms. Maureen Higgins and Ms. Lora Mattie, have also been appointed for five-year terms.

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) is once again facilitating the Emergency Billing Relief Program (EBRP), as directed by the Government of Alberta. This program temporarily pauses electric and gas utility billing and provides credits to eligible individuals affected by mandatory wildfire evacuations in Alberta.
Under the EBRP, eligible utility customers impacted by a mandatory evacuation order will receive billing credits retroactively for the period they were impacted by mandatory evacuations from wildfires.

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) amended Sections 1.1, 20, 30 and 35 of Rule 001: Rules of Practice and rescinded Rule 018: Rules on Negotiated Settlements and Rule 014: Rules Respecting the Public Disclosure of Market Surveillance Administrator Records in a Hearing or Other Proceeding.
The amendments to Rule 001 and the rescission of Rule 018 and Rule 014 are effective on April 1, 2025.
